Meet Our Pastors

Pastor Peter Rigby
I arrived at the Kingston Standard Church in 1979 as the young, newly appointed pastor. I was known as the son of the previous pastor. The congregation was not large and was composed of older adults, who were people of faith and courage. Their faith and courage was evidenced before my arrival, in their decision to relocate and build new facilities on enough land to develop parking. Their desire to look beyond themselves meant they were a congregation who said "yes" often. New ideas or different ways of doing things did not threaten them. "Will it make a difference for God?" was the question they most often asked. Their willingness to change meant they provided an environment for me to grow and develop. They sent me and others to seminars and workshops, they smiled, they encouraged, they prayed, and they got involved. Over time the congregation and I evolved, changed, grew, made mistakes, had some conflicts, yet continued in our desire to exist for others. It is in this positive environment that Cyndi and I raised our two boys. They are out on their own now, but still have faith in the church of Jesus Christ. Prior to coming to Kingston I pastored at another church for four years after graduating from Gordon-Conwell Seminary in South Hamilton Mass. While pastoring here in Kingston I pursued a D.Min degree from Fuller Seminary in CA and graduated in 1999. I discovered that I preferred California winters to Boston or Kingston winters. My 26 plus years as pastor of the Kingston Standard Church have been and continue to be a time of growth and development. My goals are to live in relationship with God and his people and develop the skills and gifts that God has given me for the sake of his Kingdom.
